Hello, hello, hello!
Olympics is in the air, and rumour has it that Usain Bolt will be achieving his goal of Living Legend. I’ve never met him personally … I’m not sportsically inclined (no that is not in the lexicon); but there are some of us who have met him or other legends. One such legend was Parra, who made sporting history when he broke the school records by placing first . . . right behind the person who placed 7th!
The entire crowd gave him full support, even those from rival houses. Can you feel the excitement, heat the crowd chanting, “Go Parra, go! Go Parra go. Go go goooooo Parra!” The headlines in the school magazine read; “Ah Parra; first behind the last!” Though he had been defeated, Parra proudly glided into the finish as though he was indeed in the first place position. His potential embarrassment was eclipsed by the support from those cheering him on.
Today’s Holy Nougat™ reminds us that each of us has the potential to be a spiritual Living Legend. And, unlike Parro, we are always winners in the Faith, not just ‘first behind the last’.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 NLT
Have you ever intentionally thought about the crowd of witnesses who are cheering us on in our faith? What are they saying to us? About us? How many of them do we know personally? Are they all living? What impact have they had on our faith journey? Have you ever stopped a moment to thank any of them for attesting to our race of Faith?
On the other hand, we ought to recognise that we are also called to be part of the crowd of witnessed for other saints around us. Do we understand our role? How will our testimony influence the faith of those who follow? Bolt did not become a Living Legend just by Wishbone. Let’s maintain the backbone of our Faith by bearing positive witness ams making our crowd proud.
Shalom & salaam
