Hi
How are you? Have you ever been to the gym before? Some of the better ones have weight rooms to build strength and muscle or simply to tone the body. But what if we were to keep those weights on all day every day? It becomes a burden yes.
Something to ruminate on with Today’s Holy Nougat™
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 NLT
We each have our own weight that we need to be rid of. Thing is, some of us keep walking around with it regardless of Christ’s intervention. You know – like children who sit in the school bus and still have the backpack on their backs. The ENTIRE TIME! And though many master the art of running/walking with those weights, how much more easily we could travel without.
Unlike the gym, the weight room which we visit on our pilgrimages contain the weight of various types of sin. Sins of the body, mind and spirit. Sins of ommision and commission. Intentional and accidental sins. Besetting sins (that is, those which we keep committing, the ones which so easily trip us up) and occasional sins. Sins of which we are aware and have repented, and sins which we have not acknowledged or revognized.
Each one attaches itself to our lives and reduces our intimacy quotient with the Lord until acknowledged and renounced.
But, in Christ Jesus there is hope. In Christ Jesus we have the POWER & AUTHORITY to strip off every single solitary sin, yes every deggeh deggeh one and command them to stay off. More importantly, if we trip over the weight of our sins; our crowd of witnesses is ready to cheer us on (contrary to many of us in the church today) as we are restored to return to this journey in Faith.
What an encouragement!
Lord, help us be better support to those we witness to along the way; as we praise you for sending support.
In the name of Jesus, we cast aside every weight that impedes our spiritual progress. Lord, forgive us, cleanse us restore us and send us on our way. Open our eyes to those weights as we are corrected in Pure Love. Moreso, we ask that you eliminate … (name your besetting issue) from our lives.
We release ourselves to your healing and wholeness dear Lord Jesus. Amen
In Christ’s love and grace
