I remember the visit clearly. I’d decided to make house visits without anyone accompanying me. I was also new. So when I turned up unannounced and unintroduced, the shut-in member had one single question for me: ‘Who is you?’ She’d received me out of courteous hospitality, but was not open to being engaged. For her minister would have been properly introduced.

As we chew on Today’s Holy Nougat™️, I pray that we’ll be more and more inclined to know Jesus for ourselves, so we might be open to hearing His Voice.

“And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Hearing Gods Voice: Promise Fulfilled

In many businesses, there is the passing of the baton from one individual to another for continuity. Sometimes this is within a family, and there may even be a shift in the wording of the business name. We may see, ‘and sons’, ‘and successors’, or even a repeat of a surname, indicative of the shift or expansion. And although my name would not have been added to the title of the church, there was a formal act to announce my presence in the church community.

The shift from prophets to Messiah was equally important, and was marked by angelic and human visitations. And while God still speaks through God’s prophets, Jesus is the authority to Whom we turn when seeking to hear God’s voice. Why? Because Jesus is the living manifestation of the Father, Our Creator, Who existed at the very beginning (see John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:15-18). Moreover, Jesus is the solution to the sin problem created by humans’ intentional avoidance (neglect) of God’s Word.

By becoming like us, Jesus speaks our heart language. We can’t suggest that He doesn’t understand our situation. He’s been there and overcome it. A quick revisit of Genesis 3 tells us that from as early as ‘Paradise Lost’, God had a clear plan for redemption. Our redemption. And that’s where Jesus comes in.

He speaks for us

He speaks to us

And desires to speak with us.

Will we choose to spend eternity listening to Him?

May all we seek be found in Christ
