I am Thine O Lord
I have heard Thy voice
And it told Thy love to me,
But I long to rise in the arms of Faith
And be closer drawn to Thee
(c) Fanny Crosby
Good day to you wherever you are in the world. A beautiful song written by the most prolific female hymn writer serves to encourage us today. Fanny went blind at an early age (before she was 2 months old), yet her faith in God was clear. In this verse she seeks to deepen her relationship with her first Love.
‘Now faith, is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for; the EVIDENCE of things not seen.’ Heb 11:1
Perhaps faith came easier for Fanny as she lived in a sightless world. What becomes increasingly evident is that the intensity of our relationship with God is inextricably linked to our faith. In the Gospels, Jesus references different kinds/levels of faith … great faith, little faith, (plain, ordinary) faith …
I believe that circumstances, along with the depth of our relationship with God may influence the level of faith we display in any situation.
Yet, though our faith may falter, Christ willingly and lovingly restores us, especially when we least expect that breakthrough.
If you’re UNDERGOING something this season, may I suggest faith in Christ; the Holy Spirit WILL empower you to OVERCOME.
Lord Jesus, help us understand the outworkings of our faith, so we might overcome whatever we undergo. Amen.
