Blessing my dear ones, I woke up with this scenario playing out in my mind. And, while I agree that it is a trifle extreme; I’m certain you will agree that it captures our sentiment to giving God full control of our lives.
Today’s reflection continues
The fool says in his heart, “there is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. Ps.14:1
For years I knew that this psalm door about “those” people, you know; those unseen non-Christians who opted for atheism or were agnostics and skeptics.
Until I was challenged, ‘think about it, which is the greater fool – one who does the existence of God (perhaps based on a disappointment in the distant past), or one who KNOWS God, but it’s to do his/her own thing; regardless of the consequences? ‘
– Ouch.
That would be those of us who sing with abandon, without really engaging the words:
‘Have Your own way Lord, have Your own way, Hold o’er my being absolute sway!
Fill with Your Spirit, till all shall see, Christ only, always, living in me’ ( (C) Adelaide A Pollard 1907)
Are we really open to God’s unlimited access and jurisdiction over our lives, or are we opting to play the fool, denying God’s existence with our actions.
Ssh, don’t respond publicly. But, if you’re so inclined, join me in saying
Lord Jesus, forgive me for going against Your will, indirectly denying Your existence. Help me recall that those kinds of actions indicate that I am solely in control, thus showing that my heart (and my will) has denied You. Forgive me Lord, and help me submit to You, in Jesus’s name amen.
