Hello
I recently received news about a friend who had been undergoing some critical seasons of grief and disappointment. It has resulted in a near crisis of faith for the family. The have been others also whose lives have gone through the wire, and have had to work hard to find restoration for their souls. How do we make sense of these devastating situations?
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. John 11:5 NIV
Lazarus takes sick and Jesus refuses to turn up for his healing. It was a sickness unto death. Yet Jesus loved Martha. A young Christian might be inclined to say that perhaps Martha would be better served if Jesus did not love her. But Jesus loved her!
Obviously, the love of Jesus does not save us from harm or danger. Rather, Jesus’ love sustains us in the midst of our rough paths. So when the going gets tough, it’s time for the tough to go praying and praising.
May the love of God surround those of us who mourn and those who are in the midst of suffering, giving us peace, grace and discernment today and always.
