My, my, my!
What a time we all live in! Death enters boldly in, attempting to convince us that the battle for our souls has been lost. But thanks be to God, who has already conquered death! My sympathies to anyone who has lost friend or family members to violent crimes.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. Isaiah 11:2 NLT
Have you ever stopped to consider what it would be like if ALL those attributes of Christ were to be evidenced in each of our lives? Scary, awesome, amazing concept isn’t it, especially with the xenophobic nature of society these days. However, many of us desire wisdom. And wisdom IS a spiritual gift. Whether we are trained or not, most of us are sought for counselling after we become Christians; some of us against our desire. Folks just find us and begin pouring out their stories.
Fewer of us find the average person acknowledging the Fear of the Lord, as that seems to have become taboo for many reasons. What if our lifestyles caused others to know and love the Lord? What if their knowledge of God were to result in less hate crimes worldwide? What if God’s Spirit dwelling in us were to continue a revolution/revival? How wonderful that would be!
In the midst of all we seek from the Lord this week – strength for the journey, more money/pay, patience, courage, direction . . . even wisdom – I pray that we may also ask that the Spirit of the Lord would rest upon us, as was the case with the early Christian communities and with Christ himself.
Lord, in your mercy, may this be our prayer
In Christ.
