Today’s nougat…
Hi. You may not know me; yet I can’t help but share my story with you.
Some folks called me Tim. Many simply avoided me, except to warn their children what could happen to them when they didn’t live up to their potential. You see, I grew up with darkness, and, although I bear my father’s name, I was a reproach to him. Soon, it became more convenient to live on the streets begging. It was lucrative and although I was scorned, I wasn’t a direct burden to my family.
What no one knew was that I had a secret desire to leave the darkness and LIVE. Just live.
Like many of us who made life in my colony, we learned very quickly to respond to the nuances of what was around us in a flash. Our senses were sharp. Honed to perfection to note the subtlest change in the atmosphere and respond. No long deliberations for us! It was called survival. Simply survival.
I was on my corner, working my shtick, when I noticed it.
My senses were on high alert. I paused. There was a crowd. They were headed in one direction.
Every cell in my body quivered. No doubt about it, something was happening and it could affect my life.
Fear said, “Leave it alone, don’t even think about investigating.” Faith whispered, ‘but THIS could give you life.”
Fear thundered, ”BUT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON REALLY!”
Faith insisted, ‘So? Go find out. THIS could give you life!’
Fear bellowed, ”YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND. THIS MAN IS A CHARLATAN! DON’T FOLLOW THE CROWD!”
Faith nudged, ‘You’ve got nothing to lose. THIS could give YOU life.’
Fear echoed, ”BROTHER MAN, YOU CAN’T SEE. HE WON’T PAY ATTENTION TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU!”
Faith nudged me forward shouting, “Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me! ! !”
Fear jeered, ”HE’S GONE TOO FAR. YOU CAN’T CATCH UP. WHAT IF YOU TRIP? “
Faith sent THIS blind man running, bawling down toward him. ”Jesus, Son of David. Have mercy on me!”
Fear was vanquished.
Jesus restored my life. I left the darkness behind.
FAITH prevailed.
