In the midst of pain and suffering, we are called to react with compassion, just like Jesus. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat™️

“Then a demon-possessed man, who was blind and couldn’t speak, was brought to Jesus. He healed the man so that he could both speak and see.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Compassionate Christ

He had a trifecta of challenges. Blind, mute, and demon-possessed. It is likely that few wanted to be around him. For, whereas he could hear persons coming, he could not see them nor verbalise his needs. We don’t know if he was born that way or even how the demonic behaviour manifested. One might presume that, frustrated with all else he was trying to cope with, he might have been violent. Yet, someone took him to Jesus. Someone cared about his condition enough to enlist Jesus’ aid.

What did Jesus see in such a male?

He saw God’s creation, a person who carried God’s DNA, despite his circumstances. Yes, I believe that Jesus looked beyond the trifecta of circumstances, to the plea for help, and responded in the most divinely humane way possible. Jesus healed the man, and though it isn’t stated, rid the man of the demons.

It’s the same Jesus to Whom we appeal. The same Jesus Who heals us in our brokenness … be it demonic oppression or possession, spiritual or physical blindness, or being mute. He also heals other ailments that plague us, including malaise and burnout. Even if someone makes the appeal on our behalf.

For whom are we burdened today? Is there someone or something that requires Jesus’ attention? Are we willing to push past the unwelcome manifestations to see someone created in God’s DNA, crying out for mercy? Are we compassionate enough to plead to Jesus? Do we trust Jesus’ abilities enough to appeal to Him for divine intervention? These days, Jesus is in an even better position to help us … at God’s right hand. He is already interceding for us. It isn’t a bother.

To whom or what do we turn in dire, seemingly hopeless situations? Our compassionate Christ awaits.

May all we seek be found in Christ
