Reflection on Scripture is crucial, as it teaches us about the mind and will of God. We must also make time for prayer, focusing on what Scripture says, as we seek to pray according to God’s will. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

1 Peter 5:6 NIV

[6] Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

Let’s Pray

Gracious God

You alone are God, there is none like unto You. You are holy, magnificent, marvellous, miraculous, majestic, and merciful. Thank You for Your awesomeness. For the gift of Creation that sustains life, oh God, I thank You. Despite our worst efforts, You continue to sustain us, treating us not as our sin of taking earth for granted deserves, but You have extended mercy towards us. You give us life, allowing us to live beyond our means, for, dear God, the earth all it entails is Yours. You occupy time and space, so that is also Yours.

We don’t often acknowledge the reality of ownership, for that would mean we’d have to deny ourselves things like pride of ownership, accomplishment, etc. But we know deep down that all we own is Yours. All we do is by Your Spirit, and all we can become is by Your grace. Thank You, Lord, for when I remember this now, I’m able to recognize that my audience is never me, nor the rest of the world. All I do ought to be for Your glory. It is You Who I need to impress, to honour, to glorify with all I do.

Mediocrity is thus not acceptable for me, oh God, for it reflects poorly on You and Your name. Teach me how to excel – as a testimony to Your greatness. Teach me how to be humble, so others see You at work in me, and not self building a tower of Babel. Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve done otherwise, for the times I’ve failed to represent You, the times I’ve let You down. And thanks, God, for loving me despite, for allowing Your glory to shine despite, and even for the consequences You’ve allowed to come my way. Lord God of all Creation, I bless You.

I yield to You and to Your authority, dear God, praying that in due season, I’ll prove worthy of being lifted up. Have Your way in my life I pray dear God, in Jesus’ name amen
