Have you ever been caught in a bind in an unfamiliar place, and just when you are about to get panicked, someone comes to your rescue? I can’t tell how many times. I believe that that’s God’s favour. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat™️ and see if you agree.

“The Lord replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.”” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s Favor

Imagine – God told Moses that his prayer (request) was answered because he had God’s favor upon him. What an assurance of comfort at the start of a troubling journey. Yet, in another sense, God was merely confirming to Moses what Moses should already have known. Why do I say that you ask? Let’s take that trip down ‘Moses Memory Lane’.

Moses was born during the genocidal era of enslavement in Egypt. Exodus 1 tells us that the pharaoh of Egypt feared the procreative capacity of the Hebrews. He commanded the murder of any male born in the Hebrew settlements. Not only did the midwives refuse to murder the babies (in their own version of civil resistance), but Moses was also hidden by his parents at birth. How he escaped detection remains a miracle.

At that desperate moment, pharaoh’s daughter came to Moses’ rescue. Placed in the very river of death commanded by the pharaoh (he ordered Death by drowning for the Hebrew boys in the wake of the midwives’ ‘inability’ to kill the newborn boys), Moses was discovered and adopted by pharaoh’s daughter. Irony or the hand of God? By virtue of his adoption, Moses would have lived in the palace with the very person who had commanded all Hebrew boys dead!

After being ratted out by a Hebrew, Moses became a fugitive from justice and fled to the wilderness. Even there, God’s favour was upon him, as he rescued some shepherdesses and was later married to one of them. Some 40 years later, Moses experienced God for himself, discovering just how favored he was. He learned that his passion for justice for the Hebrews was not misplaced, God had placed that on his heart.

So you see siblings, it could very well be the same for us. If we were to trace our lives, we might see in retrospect that God’s grace and favour rests upon us. That what was meant to destroy us became a slight delay in our destiny. For God’s favour also aligns with God’s plans and purpose for our lives.

Shall we start counting those blessings?

May we see evidence of God’s favour in our lives today.

May all we seek be found in Christ
