I pray you felt God’s blessings upon you yesterday. And I pray God’s blessings on you today. The god news today is that when God’s servants opt to bless others, God heard and makes it manifest. Yes, seriously. Consider Today’s Holly Nougat

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing: ‘May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.’ Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”” ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭6‬:‭22‬-‭27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God’s Covenant Blessing

I was somewhere recently and one person began to name drop. Initially, I smiled to myself as I thought it was a bit much. But since then I have realized that it gave credibility to the name dropper. The words spoken thereafter carried greater weight because of the person’s affiliation.

There’s a sense in which we have that access every single day. For, when we bless someone in God’s name, God has promised to honor that prayer. Yes, it’s directed at Aaron and his sons ie those dedicated to the priesthood. Have we thought about the implications of Matthew 18:20, when Jesus assures us that where there are two persons gathered, He is alert, waiting for us to Name-drop. I know it’s not written that way in the Bible versions you’ve got. It is very different.

When we take all in consideration though, that’s what Jesus said. And He didn’t restrict it to Aaron and sons, because in fulfilling The Law, Jesus makes room for us around God’s table. With God, or Decision to Name-drop with that blessing is a covenant. It is a done deal. Now I can’t guarantee that it works when we bless ourselves; I believe God wants us to be open-handed, rather than selfish.

What’s remaining for our reflection today is – who needs this blessing, and who would I like to bless? Once we’ve answered that question prayerfully, let’s honor God’s covenant blessing over someone’s life.
