Nougat 6

When undertaking international travel these days, the process leans toward tedious. Not only are there forms and lines, but there are security checks. Each checkpoint has its own rules. Travellers, both visitors and locals, have to comply with the rules set out for them. One example is the processing for locals and foreigners.

In many cases, someone who has a permit for work or residence, but is not a citizen gets processed with foreigner (or ‘other’). And unless one reads, it is possible that the processing is denied or one gets rerouted. Subsequently, to avoid the consequences of delayed or denied entry, we read the rules in advance and familiarize ourselves with the rules. And when we deplane, we readily comply with limited to no complaints.

Please consider today’s Holy Nougat, in particular how we respond to the call for obedience.

Do not Waver

Put simply, that was God’s instruction to Joshua. And as believers, they apply to us also. When in the various security points, we readily take shoes, jewelry and metallic items off, voluntarily allow ourselves to undergo powerful radioactive waves, and even a close, discomfiting whole body searches. Usually without complaint. How open are we to obeying God’s laws?

Obedience is not only better than sacrifice but it also aids in speeding the process on prayers. It keeps us out of trouble, prevents some things from overwhelming us, aligns us to understand the nuances of prayer, and deepens our relationship with God. This is facilitated when we yield to God’s Spirit.

May we be as yielded to God’s Law as we are to security checkpoints.
