Hopefully we’re back on track. Today’s Holy Nougat is one which speaks to the human penchant for busy-ness in attending to the business of our spirit lives.
“The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
John 6:63 NLT
Only God’s Spirit gives eternal life. Not our parents, siblings nor close relatives; not our friends, foes nor ‘frenemies’; not our schools, workplaces, community and interest groups nor the governing powers where we are registered as humans.
Actually, not even the institution of church and worship life.
So would this be the appropriate time to ask, “Who/What gets priority veto power in our lives? The very life-enabling Spirit of God, or the strictures and structures which are offered as Support to our earthly existence? For if God’s Spirit gives life; then we might be better served attending to God’s Spirit.
May God’s Word and Spirit prove to be the pivot around which our lives revolve.
