Hello dear
Thanks for the responses to the reflections on forgiveness and belief these past few days. I trust it has been impacting how we live our faith in the public spaces. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.” Romans 9:32 NLT
As believers, where do our priorities lie? With relationship or doctrine and dogma? In his conversation with the disciples, Jesus insisted that friendship moved beyond following commands out of fear (of retribution), by becoming a full fledged relationship based on mutuality and trust over time.
It wasn’t that we are called as friends of God to ignore the Law – God’s commandments – rather; our relationship WITH Y’shua directs the WHY and HOW we obey. We seek to please our friends, and so we please our God. We also know that This friend is keen on covering our backs; always looking out for our best interest and is ever True. And when we mess up (as we invariably do) This friend forgives; although we live with the consequences of our choices.
Remember, our relationship with Jesus impacts how we share our faith with others, in particular those who are not yet intimate friends with Christ. It also impacts our response to offenses committed against us, in relation to grace and forgiveness.
So legalism or grace? Which shall we choose; how shall we live?
