It is so hard for most of us to fathom Unfailing Love. The kind that always places our best interests as priority, even when the outcome may not be what we desire. Or the outcome may trigger a spiritual temper tantrum. Unfailing/steadfast Love is right there in the nick of time because It never left. Gives us life, provides the sustenance we need to live and yet allows us to determine whether we choose to love in return. And, confident in our capacity to betray and/or forsake in a pinch; Unfailing Love said “I do” by going the way of the Cross and taking on our sin.
Then, Unfailing Love said, “I know they’re wrong and what they’re doing seems to hurt, but Abba (Daddy) don’t hold that against them. Forgive them on my account.” And, when it seemed that Hope was lost, Unfailing Love rose from the grave, assuring us that death is merely a technicality!
And, most of all,
Unfailing Love
loves each of us as we are,
by ourselves, with no pretense;
for ourselves, when we make no sense.
Unfailing Love is ours.
Ours, despite the fears
Ours, amidst our cares
Ours to wash away the tears
Ours and always here – Ours
Ours for the taking,
day in and day out.
Ours for the claiming –
within and without.
Ours collectively, Ours individually,
faithful to the moon and back,
Ours to infinity;
and if we choose eternity –
still ours.
