Greetings
2019 is fast approaching and many persons have already given consideration to their new year’s resolution. But what if the resolution was more like a call on our lives for ministry? Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”” Exodus 4:10 NLT
From a 21st century perspective, Moses’ response to God is exactly what it sounds like – a flimsy excuse. Especially when we have the wonderful benefit of hindsight to color our assessment. After all, Gods plans for Moses seemed water tight, they only required a cooperative Moses for completion.
Until the request is directed at us. Then, stuttering is an extremely mild excuse beside ours. For, if our God knows us, ‘I’m sure God wouldn’t ask that of … (us).’ Ironically, it IS because Almighty God knows exactly who we are that results in our being called to ministry in this way.
Yup. Same so. Exactly why
So let’s go back to the personalized script now; we are each on the back end of our wilderness; not even aware that our (self imposed) exile was done. God has caught our attention (burning bush … Damascus road … wherever – choose your attention-grabber). More than that, God invites our collaboration with a major project for humanity’s salvation. We don’t have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight; although we do know that whatever God orchestrates ends in victory.
The faith response would be, ‘here I am, send me Lord’; but we know what demons we have been running from. And saying ‘yes’ to God, generally includes facing our issues. Knowing what we know about our lives, are we going to respond like Isaiah or do we recall our perceived imperfections?
