The Lord said, “Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to me right now.

Too funny. God arrested Saul and set him (on the) Straight (Street). We know the story. Persecutor of God’s people confronted by God en route a mass killing spree; brought to his knees, and blinded upon finally seeing God’s Light.
In fact, it sounds romantic. In a somewhat happily ever after kind of way. But what if you were Saul? What if YOU were to get arrested midstream by God? What if God wanted to get your attention right now and has to arrest you midstream? Is it possible that God wants to set us (on the) Straight (Rd,)? Or if you had to be blinded in order to see God’s Truth? Ouch!
I suspect that it probably wouldn’t be as funny then. Yet, in true Saul style, devotion has him praying to God during this season of blindness, open to God’s directive.
But here’s the question; in what ways have we been guilty of persecuting God’s children with our words or actions? How might our actions be misconstrued by others in the Faith to the extent that hearing our name requires God’s directive before someone would be caught in our presence? Could it be that we are also needing to be led to God’s Straight (and narrow Street) in order that we might ‘see the Light’?
Let’s resist the temptation to name others who require God’s intervention. Rather, let’s allow the spotlight of God’s Loving Truth to convict us about our actions.
