There I was, minding my own business. I was bragging on God’s provision and feeling extremely blessed. The phone rang, and the source of one of my blessings called with potentially bad news. The blessings brag shifted to a barrage of complaints because things weren’t going perfectly. Immediately mid-rant, there was a check in my spirit.
The Holy Spirit quietly asked (I really hate being reminded of my wrongs) if I was just a fair time friend. Was I only needing to have my way or would I shut up and listen. (OUCH! Talk about a sound reprimand). And it hit me … the tongue was at it again.
In one breath, I was happy to dissociate myself from the terrible tongue, but in the next breath, I knew I had messed up yet again. For, I’d resolved to tame the tongue, but I had not been conscious about it.
