I tend to be supercritical of grammar and diction in all presentations placed before me. Yet, no matter how much editing I employ, it seems that an error or five escapes in the Nougats daily. (How holy is that?)
A quandary for someone who seeks to offer perfection, and who anticipates others being distracted by the errors. My sincerest apologies.
Here’s today’s nougat
And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their time. Luke 1.20
Ironic isn’t it. Gabriel doesn’t threaten to prevent the pregnancy for Zecharias’ long awaited son. Rather, he loses the ability to speak for a season, a loss which is perhaps as profound in its absence since Zecharias was a priest by profession. Imagine, Zecharias prayed, but didn’t believe. He did not follow through on the task begun.
Could it be that God doesn’t punish our shortcomings by withholding that which has been promised? Moreso, is it feasible that God desires our best effort, not our perfection?
We are all obliged to offer to God our best, not our day’s leftovers. And I’m still obliged to ensure that the Nougats are theologically sound, coherent and pleasing to our God.
In faith, let’s complete our tasks so that others might believe.
