Hey there
Amid the celebrations, Burundi suffers. And folks battle fiercely to remain alive. How do we impact or context with the good news of Christmas?
Here’s today’s nougat
And her [promised] husband Joseph, being a just and upright man and not willing to expose her publicly and to shame and disgrace her, decided to repudiate and dismiss (divorce) her quietly and secretly. Matthew 1.19
So, despite the child being explained by Mary, Joseph initially felt betrayed. Not surprising. But how would Mary feel, especially since God told her she was chosen to near the Christ child?
God’s invitation is a clarion call to radical faith and is guaranteed to have some very hair-raising moments. Moments which might even cause us to question our sanity, our credibility and perhaps threaten our relationship with others.
And yet Mary sang praises to God. And Joseph opted initially floor divorce rather than stoning her to death.
I shudder to think about MY response when God does not seem to work things in ease after I agree to be obedient. Is that typical for you also? Lord Jesus,
May our faith be true
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
