Hi
Can you believe it Christmas day is now less than a week away?
Here’s today’s nougat
He came into his own, but his own would not receive him. John 1.11
The natural inclination is to deprecate the Jews, whom history tells us – in excruciating detail – were very clear in their rejection of “Joseph lilkke carpenter son”. Even unto death, They chose Barabbas in lieu of Jesus. [Talk about the ultimate rejection!]
But what about you and I? How many times has the Truth of the Gospel come unto us, His Own (sheep), and we opted not to receive the Truth?
No, I am not referring to non Christians, they have their own reality to work through. I speak about us Christians who fail to internalise the Meaning and Message of the Good News. For maybe if we’d internalised it, we’d live it. And if we’d live it, others would live.
But, there’s hope. Our time’s not yet up. (We’re alive, aren’t we?) And in the midst of our remembering, we’re told; ‘There was a man … whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him all might believe.’ Remember him, the late-in-life gift of God to Elizabeth and Zecharias? The answer to a 30+ year old prayer? He was the Witness then. John’s name reminds us that God has been gracious unto us. There are many who are dying for us to help them receive He has come unto His own. In the midst of the crazy Christmas countdown, could it be that Christ calls us as Christians to also bear witness to the Truth, the Good News of God’s graciousness?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
