Hello
What a week! Here in Jamaica, it was rough, yesterday topping the charts with activities that almost eclipsed the French and Turkish headliners.
And where was the church of God? Outside of the temples, being salt and light quietly – at least, some of us were.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Then the king of Israel responded to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man from whom we can seek the Lord , but I hate him because he does not prophesy anything good for me but always disaster. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” And Jehoshaphat said, “May the king not speak like this.” 2 Chronicles 18:7
A tale of 2 kings … One who would not MOVE without consulting the Lord directly; the Other who ONLY surrounded himself with ‘Yes-men’, aka men pleasers (c.f. Ephesians 6)
It’s the tale of two mortals … One who was sold on perpetual praise TO God; the Other who seemed to be extremely SELF-absorbed.
But more importantly, it is the tale of You and I in times of crisis, when we’re away from the public eyes; where some days we ARE The ONE, and far too often we’re the OTHER.
Who are we when the world is not watching? When despite their seeming inattention, they await our quiet intervention?
In Christ Jesus, we can be mostly the One. But then there are days …
May God help us all!
In Christ
