Hello my dears
I awakened this morning to the beauty of the morning after the rain. For me, is a sense of renewal, the old is made new again, just like when we confess our sins to God.
Here is today’s nougat
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, “There is a boy here who has five barley lives and two fish.but what can that do to feed so many?” John 6:9
How did Andrew come to the knowledge of the little boy’s offering? But even more importantly, why would the boy offer his food to Andrew?
We don’t know who he was – he could have been one of the children Jesus healed previously, his relative might have been healed by Jesus, he might have come for the teaching,
OR
he could simply have been one of the crowd. What we do know is he was at the right place and he was a critical thinker.
He surmised that there was a shortage of food. BUT
He was fully aware THAT he was IN the presence of Jesus: Son of God, Miracle worker. These two attributes are critical to note, as the first reminds us that the boy offered his mask as a sacrifice to God. He offered his gift perhaps to feed Jesus and the disciples, but he recognized his ability to give back to God and he did just that. I believe that he was also hoping for some kind of miracle. It is possible that he did not wish hunger to prevent Jesus from competing the task at hand.
Maybe he was simply exercising his faith. Looking at the bigger spiritual picture, despite the obvious natural situation before him.
Maybe the rumours are true, maybe there were others who had food, but were afraid to share. The boy did, and his willing offering to God, little though it seemed, fed a multitude.
What can our loaves and fish do?
First . . .
. . . we have to offer it to God.
