Hello
Howdy do? Alive and shining and giving God the glory?
Here’s today’s nougat
And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? How much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:13-14
I find it intriguing that it is his servants who convince Naaman to heed the prophet’s instructions. Twice now, we find him paying attention to advice from persons whom many others would regard as belowhisstation, outcasts even. Could that be the key to his military prowess? A great general looks at all options and moves accordingly. S/he also does well to hear from those at the grassroots.
Sometimes our breakthrough depends on our willingness to move past pride and being open to the move of the Spirit, however humiliating it may seem, however lowly the source of encouragement. For, as Rudyard Kipling once asserted, …
If we can walk with Kings,
yet not lose the common touch …
[then] ours is the earth, and everything in it,
and what’s more besides,
we’ll prove ourselves Christian my dears
