What is the best gift you ever gave? And what is the best gift you have received? I have received some great gifts over the years, like my year-long birthday surprise two years ago. But recently, the best gift was sleeping in. Tired and drained, it was good, really good. God has given some of us sweet rest before; but I believe that aside from Jesus, there was another gift that is truly blessed to have. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”” John 20:21 NLT
One of the greatest blessings of this gift is that we can download it again and again, share it with others and still have access to it. Glorious Peace! And Jesus’ track record as Peace Giver and Peace Maker is topped by none.
The Isaiah prophecy of Jesus’ birth ended with the proclamation that He was the Prince of Peace. Around the time of His birth, angels appeared to some shepherds and the birth announcement included news that the baby was the long-anticipated Prince of Peace! Traveling with His disciples, He spoke Peace over the raging storm and the elements obeyed instantly. On the cross at Calvary, Jesus offered His mother Peace by commending her care to His ‘favourite’ disciple.
Is there any wonder that when Jesus visited His disciples behind locked doors after His resurrection, His greetings included the gift of Peace?
As we face whatever life presents us, we may need to embrace our Gift of Peace; Who’s come before, laid the foundation of Peace; sent God’s Spirit of Peace to sustain us in this season; and will return to offer eternal Peace.
Lord we look to You, anticipating the day we can enjoy eternal Peace with You. Until then, we cling to our Gift of God’s Spirit of Peace; consciously receiving Your peace today. Hallelujah amen
