Do you ever stop to think about Jesus’ return? I know it’s not a hot-button topic for many, but as believers, it ought to be very real for us. Whether it’s priority or not, please consider today’s Holy Nougat™️

“The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, “The day of judgment is coming, burning like a furnace. On that day the arrogant and the wicked will be burned up like straw. They will be consumed—roots, branches, and all. “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.” ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Day of the Lord

It’s not always going to be sweetness and light for those who thrive on evil. Not at all. Unfortunately for them, they have to face God’s judgement, and be held accountable for their actions. But, it’s God Who judges, not us. So let’s not take it on ourselves to begin with this judgement – not our call.

What is in our purview however, is how we choose to live. When we live in anticipation of Christ’s return, our outlook ought to shift to our pleasing Jesus in the now. And that begins with a healthy fear of the Lord. This isn’t teeth chattering, knee knocking, debilitating fear – not on this side of eternity. This fear carries a sense of reverence that sets God apart from all else with whom we relate.

Because of that reverential fear, we make time to worship God, relying on God’s Spirit to guide our worship. And, as stated in the introduction, our worship has an end in mind – the day when we’re reunited with God. Malachi describes the reunion as joy-full and rejuvenating. It is then that we meet Jesus, the Son of Righteousness, face to face. We will have access to the healing grace He brings, for sickness will be no more.

That’s also what Peace entails: well-being of body, mind and spirit. With our healthy, immortal bodies, our minds and spirits will also be transformed; rendering us free to worship God at all times and in all places. I find myself yearning for that day more and more, especially during Advent. How about you?

May all we seek be found in Christ
