A songwriter once wrote that ‘to know, know, know you is to love, love, love you!’ What if we can hear God from knowing Jesus? Please consider today’s Holy Nougat
“The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3 NLT
Hearing God: Jesus Radiates God’s Character
We’ve already established Jesus as being at Creation and integrally involved in the creative process. And, given His own declaration that He and the Father are One (see John 10), then we can indeed ‘hear’ God through Jesus. A few characters traits to reflect on from the Lord’s Prayer:
Loving Parent;
Holy
Righteous Ruler
Sovereign over Earth and Heaven;
Provider;
Forgiving and Compassionate;
Just;
Director/Guide;
Eternal.
These are characteristics of God, as defined by Jesus; and also represent ‘listening points’ for when we speak with God. I have several clear memories of my mom in several life situations. She didn’t always have to open her mouth for me to hear her, good and bad. What, based on Jesus’ lifestyle, might we expect to hear when we seek God as Parent? Especially a Holy, Righteous Ruler Who is totally approachable, even when we err.
As ones who adhere to the constitution of our nations, what do we expect to hear on matters of Heavenly import and impact? Are there issues which we would seek God’s face that are impacted by ‘national’ security? Can we hear echoes of God’s voice in Jesus’ Kingdom of Heaven teachings? And what off authority concerns as per Matthew 16? Yes, we can hear God through Jesus.
The feeding of the multitude, in excess of 5000 bear Testimony to God’s response to requests for supplies. And Jesus assures that we won’t get stones for fish (see Matthew 7:9-11). So what do we hear? Jesus offered forgiveness from the Cross, so we can expect to hear God offering us forgiveness also.
Sssh … just listen.
As the Way, Truth and Light, we can hear God’s voice as clear as Alexa, Siri or GPS directions when we’re lost. We may need to tune out the distractions to hear; our better yet, increase our intimacy with The Word, so we can know and hear God’s voice. What better time to start than now, as Good is eternal?
Praying clarity as we seek God’s face.

May all we seek be found in Christ
