Hi
Have you ever spoken out of turn and regretted it later? Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think before engaging our tongues:
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21 NLT
Talking can be dangerous. For the love of something to say; we might implicate ourselves in that which may not be ours to address. As one who writes (reflects on scripture), I can attest that it becomes so easy for us to get caught up with being considered knowledgeable about life. And, at times it is tempting to think of myself as a know it all.
But that is not my calling.
Yet, if I’m not careful I run the risk of thinking that my opinion is the final thought on a matter. It isn’t. God’s opinion is! And we must ensure that when invited, our thoughts reflect Christ.
When Christ’s authority is the source of our speech; we are assured that that which derives from our lips is wholesome and life-giving.
So … before engaging mouth; let’s pray, pause and ponder – and then speak as led. We may find the consequences far less strenuous than before.
Lord,
You know the temptation many of us face daily – to open mouth; insert foot – as we offer Our opinions on matters best left in Your mercy. Forgive us even as You rescue us from our egos. Stir in us the desire to listen first and then respond as led by Your Spirit. With zero embellishments or self-congratulatory responses.
For those whom our words may hurt; we crave Your healing deliverance. Restore their minds as You renew us by Your grace we pray dear Y’shua amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
