The story is told of a young convert who died and made it to Heaven. Upon arrival, St Peter did the tour, and there was a marked door for every single denomination in the world. The convert was heartened, for this proved that not every denomination was equal and thought that it was a pity that those left behind would have to wait for death to make this critical discovery!
Eventually they arrived at the convert’s door, which was hurriedly opened so that the special treasures would be revealed. Lo and behold; on the inside, EVERYONE was in one grand room praising God! Upon enquiring, the convert was advised that it is US HUMANS who make a distinction; God sees grace through faith in Christ Jesus!
Something to sprinkle as we nibble on today’s Holy Nougat
“Then you will remember with shame all the evil you have done. I will make your sisters, Samaria and Sodom, to be your daughters, even though they are not part of our covenant.” Ezekiel 16:61 NLT
Are there denominations/persons whom we have determined are less holy than we are; despite us laying claim to the same faith? How surprised would/will we be to find they are loved by God just as much as we are (perhaps with them being offered status through the New Covenant through Jesus!)?
The irony is, we have done nothing to earn God’s love; God’s love just is! For us; with us; to us, and in us. Passed on through us, in His Blood so others might receive and live!
