Hi
It’s Thursday! Another opportunity for us to think about how each one can help to end rape and violence. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.” Colossians 1:17 NLT
Can you picture God holding all of Creation? It’s one of those images which, for me, defies the imagination! Yet, I am struck by the idea that Jesus keeping us all together. In the original language, we are told that things are held together by Jesus’ power. So why/how did it get to fall apart?
Unfortunately, in allowing humanity the option to think and choose, God actually shared power with us. To side with God, or go against God’s plan and purpose. We don’t always see it in such stark reality, especially when our choices are ‘feel good’ or in our best interests. Like Abraham choosing to impregnate Hagar, despite the assurance that God would give him a direct heir. Or David ignoring his wives for Bathsheba.
But then, there is the other set of choices – the possibilitiy to help the fallen and forsaken, just like the Samaritan in the parable. Where we flip the script and act as though we are actually in God’s hands and under Christ’s jurisdiction. For, when we do, the world becomes a safer, better place for humanity.
In Whose hands? It’s not too late to return.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
