After spending the past few days ruminating on Jonah’s journey, might I invite us to go ONE step further?
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
And pray for me, that words may be given to me when I open my mouth, to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news [of salvation], Ephesians 6:19
As the de facto pastor of the Ephesian church, the Pauline writer invites the congregation to remember him in their prayers. Perhaps Jonah’s attitude to Nineveh would have been somewhat different if he had had some support. But the Word is silent on it. What we do know of Jonah’s attitude indicates that pastors are just as human as the others of us, and that we do need the prayers of others.
