What does intimacy look like to us? In particular, intimacy with God? We tasted a bit last week, when savouring Jonah’s familiarity with God. Hosea offers another perspective
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Oh, that we might know the Lord ! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.” Hosea 6:3 NLT
Like Jonah, Hosea heard from God rehularly. In fact, God even told Hosea who to marry. Ironically, this woman he married was unfaithful, the parantage of his children somewhat questionable. Hosea had been disappointed by the woman God chose for him.
But because of his frank, open relationship with God, Hosea encourages us to press on so that our knowledge of Christ might increase. Intimacy with God isn’t just about praising and praying in the good times. Its about pressing when even God’s promises seem to have disappeared (trust me, I’m a multiple PhD student in this … Press harder and Deeper).
So let’s press … When the bottom’s dropped out of our world.
Let’s press … When life is closing in on us
Press … When it feels like we’re outcasts and orphans.
Remember -God’s grace is sufficient and God’s got a good plan.
Press harder and Deeper. It strengthens our God-relationship.
