Instead intentionally search for God’s way of being Just, as a subject in God’s empire, and the things which give cause for worry (clothing, food, shelter, The Future etc) will be taken care of by your Sovereign. Matthew 6:33
It was Jesus’s great sermon. He spoke about several issues which continue to life in the new empire, then insisted that they should shift their focus from their psychosocial needs, because those were fleeting, to heeding God’s will for their lives. He wanted them to give priority to God over the current empire.
What would it mean for us – to quit worrying about bills, work, family, friends, etc for the sake of our souls? To enter into a virtual contract, aka a covenant with God which says, ‘I’ll be very intentional about following You, Your vision, plan, and purpose for my life, in exchange for You addressing those things which I really wish to worry about?’
God has a reputation to uphold, so it’s likely that God WILL come through and do what God has been doing all along anyways (taking care of us). On the other hand, can we really love up to that covenant, seek God’s will and God’s will only, to the exclusion of worry? Can we live under God’s reign in this empire?
I want God’s way to be my way as I journey here below,
For there is no other highway that a child of God should know.
Though the road be dark and rough, while He leads me tis enough
I want God’s way to be MY way,
everyday.
Lord, in You alone is this possible
