Hello and blessings. It’s Monday all over again, for some – the beginning of the work week. Even if you’re tired, thank God. You’re employed.
Here’s today’s nougat
I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. Ps 34:1
Can you imagine, not only are we called to pray unceasingly, but now it seems we’re also expected to be continually filled with praise?!
Wow, that’s an extremely tall order. I’m mostly an upbeat person, but honestly; there are some days when I’m an Israelite in the wilderness, missing my leeks and onions from Egypt. Grumble, grumble, grumble. Praise is the last thing on my mind at those times.
And then I think of the recent gratitude, Bible verse and other challenges that have been making the rounds on Facebook and other media. Christians and non-Christians have happily risen to the challenge, being grateful for all sorts of things and posting same online for seven days or more. And they made it. So can we.
Furthermore, when we realize (by faith) WHO our God is, and by extension, WHO and WHOSE we are in Christ Jesus; we might be a bit more than tempted to bless the Lord – at ALL times. Then when we couple it with James’ reverse psychology challenge, to tame our tongues, praises should help to counter the act of verbal misappropriation (ie incorrect use of the tongue) we often tend to practice.
We could also try using the Praising Alphabet. That is, for every letter, we identify at least ONE THING for which we can give praise. I guarantee it, it works.
The Brooklyn Tabernacle choir helps us to get our praise rolling out today.
