Hi,

The heat was unbearable today. In my homeland water restrictions have tightened as we enter a third year of drought. Please, join me in praising God for rain in Jamaica – just enough to refill the reservoirs, not to create a national disaster through hurricanes. If you join me, I’m on Day 8 of 21.

Keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from deceit. Ps 34:10

She was badly wounded. Mortally wounded if you thought about it. Off course, no one noticed that the words had wounded, especially the one who uttered them. And, truth be told, to the unaffected, it wasn’t more than a verbal flesh wound. Nothing to take note of.

But she hurt. And the more she thought about how unfair it was, the more she felt the need to proclaim her innocence. To someone who missed the skirmish. And since the original bystanders had not noted how deeply pained she was, she had to add some background info, and enhance a few details.

She found the perfect victim, ahem, the perfect subject to “just share her story with … Can you imagine?”. And she opened her mouth to explain her innocence, and her woundedness.

A voice whispered, ‘Keep your tongue from speaking evil, and your lips from speaking guile.’ ”B-b-b-but; it hurt. And they didn’t even apologize.”

Even softer, ‘keep your tongue from speaking evil …’ ”But it’s not evil, I’m only saying what happened to me. My side of the story.” She reported to that Still Small Voice.

‘Keep your tongue …’

She withheld her comments. Strangely enough, the wound really seemed to be less than a pin prick in the Light of Grace, God’s grace that is.

She wondered later when she remembered the lesson whether she would have refrained from speaking guild. She KNEW that her innocent retelling would have had negative repercussions, although she wasn’t evil, really.

Ahhh the tongue. Such a hard object to manage …

‘Keep your tongue from speaking evil; and your lips from speaking guile.’
