Hi
Has God ever put you in your place? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.” Job 42:3 NLT
Back in the days, when someone put you in your place or delivered a solid but firm insult; we’d say, ‘Boof yaw!’ Later, the same idea was captured in the phrase, ‘you got told (off)’. Regardless of how we choose to describe it, God’s pointed question to Job was nothing short of a Big Boof! And there’s many a day when that Boof feels very personal. As if God Almighty ordered that ‘dis’; that Boof just for me.
Because we have that kind of frank relationship and I appreciate God’s candor in putting me in my place. For, like Job, I know that when God responds with a solid Boof, the solution to what ails me has long been established. Usually in worrying, and hetting up myself, however, I had missed the miracle.
But we are not only hearing God’s side of the story. We also hear from Job. Actually, we have been hearing from Job and his friends for quite a bit in the previous chapters; for not one could make sense of Job’s calamities. Again; Job is not alone in that regard, for many of us are struggling to overcome our own calamity and to make sense of them.
So back to Job’s current response. It is NOT QUITE the regular timbre of response or commentary to God. Oh no. Job is very clear that he messed up. He acknowledged his guilt/culpability and begins to anticipate the awesomeness of how God operates. He had a glimpse of God’s glory!
It is my prayer that today; we might catch a glimpse of God’s glory amid the Boofs and the challenges which sometimes come our way.
God bless you and good morning
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
