Nougat 9

Hello,

Got a minute?

Before you start checking your timepiece, just consider your own feeling if you needed someone’s minute and they began to time you. Not always fun. My point precisely.

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 NLT

Sharing is caring! Those words have rung out on many a playground; so much so that one mother’s decision to be brutally honest was met with censure, despite the adult reality, which often behaves otherwise.

Hmmmn

When last have we prayed (literally or figuratively) that someone would share our burdens in the natural realm? If some of us were to be truly honest, we’d admit that there are times when we would have appreciated a live face to face with Jesus, than a faith talk with Him. Knowing there’s someone who cares, who confirms we exist in the midst of our life situations, helps. (And if you doubt that for a second, visit Facebook to see what we post in the hopes of getting even one Like or a response!!!!)

Yet, many of us are uncomfortable with relieving, or being recipients of others’ burdens. We actively grumble, complain, facepalm, evade such painful, unwelcome responsibility. Sometimes, we even suggest that the Other brought the burden upon themselves, thus justifying our detachment. Ouch.

With all that’s happened and happening in the world at this time, there’s adequate opportunity for distant, impersonal burden-bearing (there’s always need for cash and kind in post-disaster, post-funeral/death settings); but I believe Christ is calling us to begin the relational burden-bearing with our family round about us. And that could be our biological, kin, heart or even church family. Now if that is too close to home, we could always try for a test run with our frenemies or real enemies. How’s that for size? Ask Stephen, Joseph or the Samaritan about it if Jesus seems too supernatural.

Ohhh, and before you challenge me on all this, take it up with Jesus, it’s His command that we love as He loves, and that we go the extra mile.

So today, would you consider bearing someone up by engaging them in their situation – without judgement – and perhaps exploring HOW Christ may wish you to bear that person’s situation … prayerfully, literally, materially, helpfully, or even to get them off your case(fully).

For God’s sake –

Thanks for joining us in this Divine feast

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
