Hi
How are you? Have you been keeping safe through the hurricanes? How have you been impacted?
Recently, I’ve had a Strong yearning for coconut drops. With it being a little less available, I would have loved to make my own. The problem is – I am challenged when it comes to selecting coconuts. Often after selecting the nut, I get home and discover that it’s rotted!
No fun?
Unfortunately, some of our life choices seem uncannily similar to my coconut selecting skills. Ouch. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 1 Peter 3:3 NLT
Can you recall being lured by “bling” (ie what seems to be genuine and dazzling) and facing the disappointment of the reality thereafter? It is can be a painful experience. And, if we’re not careful, after one or two such disappointments, we find ourselves in the extreme, discounting any such person who maintain such lifestyles. But things are not always what they seem.
Might I encourage us to engage the Holy Spirit’s gift of discernment to assist us in making those critical life decisions which could be affected by our ability to judge others? For oftentimes, ‘it’s not how it look it is’; as my aunt would say.
Also, and probably even more importantly, I urge us to avoid the distractions of the outer garb. Focus on the inner person. That’s where it really matters.
Get rid of the mask. Dare to be vulnerable before God. Allow God to see us as we are, to clean up those messed up spaces and strengthen those good parts. Love the person who doesn’t know how to smile back at us in the mirror. For if we don’t love that person, others will get sidetracked by the outerwear.
Blessed week! Be safe!
Thanks for joining us in this Divine feast
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
