How does it feel to accept that we’re chosen, called, and given right standing with God through Christ Jesus? It probably feels like it’s too good to be true. But God is no liar or snake oil salesman. Nope, what God says, God does. Having accepted that factoid, there’s another benefit that comes with our Chosenness. Learn with me as we consider Today’s Holy Nougat

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭30‬ ‭NLT

“And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.” ‭‭‬‬

Glorified by God’s Grace

That marvellous doxazo! The esteem placed on each of us who is called by God. I’m sure some of us are wondering, ‘What glory? All I’m facing is brokenness and strife. How is that God’s glory on me?’ I’m inclined to remind us of Peter, Paul, and Job, whose life stories were laden with trials and problems. For though we’re correct in thinking of glory as that which is ascribed ‘valuable’, it also refers to the revelation of one’s true essence.

In looking at Peter, Paul, and Job, we realize that their true essence – the party hidden securely in Christ – was most revealed in the face of trials. That’s what afforded Paul to confidently proclaim to the Galatian church, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and have Himself for me (see Galatians 2:20).

The glory then isn’t really about us and our net worth. It’s about the revelation of our post-Adamic nature that’s transformed daily by the renewing of our minds. If this feels like a let-down, think with me about our old selves. Are there triggers that would bring out the terrible in us? If yes, when God’s glory is revealed in us, such behaviours ought to be past tense.

It is possible that our humanness is still fighting for supremacy, so we’re struggling to remain true to God. But remember, our right standing comes with the territory. Christ Will Work On our Old Nature! God’s glory will come forth in our lives like sunshine behind the clouds on a rainy day. That’s God’s guarantee, signed by Christ with His resurrection.

That’s the kind of glory I want to be revealed in me. How about you?
