Hi
There’s a saying in Jamaica, ‘naa watch no face’, which suggests that we opt to do what we are doing; even if no one else is with us. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat
“As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.” 2 Thessalonians 3:13 NLT
This was the Pauline encouragement to the 20% in Thessaloniki who were almost being worked to a frazzle because the 80% were being their lazy selves. It was cause for contention and had the potential to split the church. Sounds familiar? Oh yes!
I must confess, the temptation to leave the 80% to their own mess comes from time to time. For, why should we play NICE to others; to the lazy and the Judases in our midst, when they stabbing us in the back or selling us for shilling-half penny?!
Most often; we get fatigued and overwhelmed to the extent that we feel inclined to resign from humanity. And we are justified in having those feelings. It is natural; well actually human.
But
BUT
God is calling us to more.
For, by the power of God’s Spirit, we are able to practice compassion and empathy, even for those who “don’t” deserve it. To do good regardless. To ensure that we are true to ourselves and our God; regardless of.
Not easy, but it’s God Who we seek to please; not others. And so we press on for our audience of One! By God’s grace, we can.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
