Nougat 7

Greetings saints

It snowed last night and I yielded to the temptation my bed offered. Speaking of temptations …

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

There hath no temptation taken you but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation make also the way of escape, that ye may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 ASV

This verse has been misinterpreted several times by many to suggest that the Lord never gives more struggles, pain, or perhaps difficulty than we are able to manage; and truthfully, that’s NOT the Word. In fact, Jesus’s often cautioned that for his sake, we would face struggles and difficulties and heartaches ( revisit the beatitudes of Matthew 5).

On the other hand, this is intended to comfort those who undergo temptations (all of us, I believe). And the PROMISE is, When temptations come, and they certainly will, it is actually pitched at our “spiritual level” or our level of resistance; and God provides an ‘out’; yielding is not our only option.

So, if we think of Jesus’s temptations in the wilderness, we recall that he resisted each one using the Word of God (Luke 4). Unfortunately, Eve’s enjoyment of the fruit was such that Adam (Genesis 3) failed to see the Exit sign – a simple no could have sufficed.

The truth is, sometimes the temptation seems so alluring that The Way Out is not considered. For example, I awakened twice, convinced myself I had more time, and then the Nougat was late this morning. For others of us, the reasoning may be different, but nevertheless … On the other hand, let’s consider Joseph’s choice … Run from the temptation, even if it might cost or reputation later.(Genesis 39).

So

In a trying situation,

  • Watch to see what the temptation is
  • Prayerfully consider the Exit
  • Race to the Exit
  • Praise God through the circumstances (and seek forgiveness if you’ve ‘messed up’ by yielding).
  • Remember … No temptation is beyond our overcoming.

Let’s be Overcomers today.

Thanks for joining me in today’s divine feast. May God’s grace prevail over all temptations today.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
