Nougat 6

After a busy week it is too easy for us to lose focus. Today’s Holy Nougat™️ seeks to bring us back to our God-relationship.

“Now to Him who is able to do far beyond all that we ask or imagine, by means of His power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the community of believers and in Messiah Yeshua throughout all generations forever and ever! Amen.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20-21‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Despite our many gifts and skills, the truth is – we don’t carry much natural power. Regardless of who we are and where we are, lots of what we do is tied up with other people and God. As adults, we have autonomy to do and be; often with supervision status over others; but we are often subject to either another set of supervisors or to directors and/or clients. For those who are not working, even those who live alone and are not studying, you may find that you are still subject to the bills and more so, the laws of the land. And our subjection to those people and laws often dictates what we can and cannot do.

Further, our physical human frame – our finite selves – may also limit us. Yet it is said that if we can consider (conceive) it , what we put our minds/hearts to has the potential to become reality. I would argue however, that the power to Conceive comes from God. What we then do with that power may be for good or evil; but we ought to recognize that that is part of what makes us the image of God.

For God conceived and spoke; and the Breath of the Word brought everything to being. That is the beauty of our Triune God (Creator Ruach and Christos – the Word enfleshed), that even in that act of creation all aspects of God’s God-ness are present. As ones created in God’s likeness we recognize the infinity of God’s power.

God is not bound by a body, by nature, by supervisors, by political leaders, or any earthly law. God is subject only to God’s self and to the laws and covenants that God established. Thus Hebrews 6 tells us that God can only swear by God’s own name. There is none more powerful, none with greater authority. And that’s the God Who chooses always to be in covenant with us. Who chose to redeem us from eternal separation; Who chose to become our righteousness. How do respond to God’s invitation for a deeper relationship?

May all we seek be found in Christ
