Nougat 6

Hello my dears

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalms 55:22 NLT

‘Are you weak and heavy laden; Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior still our Refuge, Take it to the Lord in prayer

The burden was unbearable. No one knew how to help. It seemed God has forgotten the situation. Until one person offered a prayer. The saint realized that the burden had been offered to everyone, EXCEPT Jesus! It wasn’t intentional; it just … happened. Ironically, the problem didn’t disappear overnight, but the burdensomeness did.

How do we as Children of God manage so often to forget inviting God to take our cares? Is it fear that God will not solve problems; lingering disappointment from the times when our prayer was not answered the way we’d have preferred; worry that it would seem that we can’t do anything for ourselves, a genuine lack of practice of handing things over to God, or an innate inability to let go and lose control?

I suspect that for many of us it’s a combination of those (and possibly a few others). What would/could happen if we were to take God at God’s Word? If we were to genuinely believe that God does not wish for us to fall and so we opted to share our concerns with God.

I’m suddenly reminded of Peter sharing with Jesus that he’s caught no fish, having spent the night seeking a catch. Ironically, Jesus’ response to Peter’s empty net asked for a move of Bold faith! He was asked to cast the net in the deep waters/over on the fish-less side. In either version of Peter’s experience, Jesus’ solution did not make sense. But it made obedience and rebirthed faith!

But what about our own Peter moments; when we shared our burdens and concerns with God and God’s own response surprised us? What if we opted to give God the benefit of the doubt and invite God to surprise us by preserving and protecting us?

Today I urge us to hand our week over to God’s care, and free ourselves to live!

God bless you and have a burden-shared week!

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
