The joy of Today’s Holy Nougat is that it offers comfort to any of us who trust in Jesus.
“Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.”
1 Peter 2:25 NLT
And that’s the blessing of yielding to God’s will. When we grant Lordship of our lives to Jesus, we find that even our souls are protected. Having reflected on Jesus as Good Shepherd, we may recall that Jesus is our Source, Strength, Sustenance and Salvation. Which He is. As Soul Protector, He still facilitates our access to all God has in store for us; as well as renewing us when we have reached our physical, emotional or spiritual limits.
So in these Covidated times when fears, depression and exhaustion are all trying to secure dominance; we know that based on our confession of Jesus as our Lord, our concerns become His! And Jesus is committed to help us overcome. Now that is a perk of Jesus being in charge, isn’t it!
Moreover, having conquered Death and made the victory public; we know that Jesus is totally equipped to fight for us. In His High Priestly prayer; Jesus handed the disciples – and by extension us – into God’s care. His concern was to ensure that not one of His intimates got lost in the trauma of the time. They went on to be the Founding Fathers of this faith we now confess! I believe that the same can happen for us (well; not the Founding Fathers bit, but the spiritual growth which must have accompanied them).
Whether we have strayed far from our Source because of life’s stresses; or lost our sense of Salvation as the death tolls and infection rates continue; or the impact of the virus has sapped our Strength; or we’re feeling as though we have no Sustenance left; I guarantee that if we but whisper the thought, a request for help … Jesus, the Guardian of of souls, Can and Will respond to our prayer.
We just need to trust Him.
