Have you ever wanted to be a fly on the wall in some of the Divine dramas which play out in the Bible? Sometimes I’ll even try to fill in what’s happening behind the scenes. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty.” Daniel 6:22 NLT
I have not wronged you. So much invested in that statement. For, it is on those grounds that Daniel says the lions were prevented from harming him. And therein lies our hope. When the Most High God declares you innocent, even the mouths of hungry lions (read, the persecution and/or instruments of torture devised by our worst enemies) will be sealed shut.
Moreover, we may even find favor with authority to the extent that those who were forced to condemn us may find themselves fervently praying for our breakthrough. And, those who seek to harm us, might find themselves in danger. (Hence the proverb when digging a grave (for someone), dig two/one for yourself).
Of course, there are the Joseph experiences which may lead us to thinking that we’ve been forsaken by God and humans. However, when God seals the lips of the lion in response to the prayers of the innocent faithful, lives are definitely going to be transformed. That is definitely incentive for us to remain obedient to God regardless of the threats coming our way. For we know that our God rewards those who diligently seek God’s face.
So, when the world tries to entice us to deviate from God’s standard, our best recourse is to burrow deeper and allow God’s grace to transform, protect and renew us. How about it, ready to fight back at the enemy?
In Christ’s love and grace
