I remember a God-granny of mine using the term ‘beknowin’. She meant beknownst, which is actually an archaic word for known beforehand. Sometimes, when she used it, it referred to someone who is well-known. When used in the correct context, it so accurately describes how well God knows and loves us. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat™️

“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” ‭‭

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Beknowin’ to God

There are days or moments when we feel invisible or insignificant in a crowd, and it’s not pleasant. Today, however, I have the joy of reminding us that we are all beknowin’ by God. Yes, God was there at our conception – even before that – and authorized our individual development. That’s some good news right there … the Creator of the universe wanted us to be born! Hallelujah

Now, if we’re beknowin’ to God, it means that as with Jeremiah, God has a plan for each of our lives. For when Jeremiah had the crisis of calling, thinking that he was too young to prophesy, God updated him on his purpose ‘I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb, before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as MY prophet to the nations. [see Jeremiah 1:5; emphasis mine] While that was a very personal message to Jeremiah, I believe that it is applicable to each of us.

God knows us. God knows us by name and nature and has a plan for us. Just like Isaac, Rebecca, Miriam, Moses, Esau and Jacob, Ruth, Boaz, Jesse, David, Rizpah, Naaman, his wife and the unnamed girl… Amos … Mary, Saul-Paul, Epaphras, and all the others. We might not know what the plan is, but that’s part of the joy as we see ourselves unfold. (More so, we can ask the Lord to reveal our purpose).

So if God foreknew us, and when we’re aligned to God, all things work together for our good, then we don’t have to waste our precious time (life) seeking significance from others. We’re already significant to The One Who matters the Most – God. Yes, you and I master to God. From before we were born.

And for that which God has called us, God is wholly confident in us. So God also believes in us. Even if we and others don’t.

Isn’t it great to know that we’re beknowin’ to God?

May all we seek be found in Christ
