Blessings saints
Just a quick reminder that we are God’s beloved. What have we done recently to please God?
Here’s today’s nougat
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Luke 11.4
On this last reflection on forgiveness at this time; might I invite us to consider this take on forgiveness. . . forgiving EVERY ONE. Forgiveness is not a lottery nor a multiple choice. (Un)/Fortunately, we don’t get to pick or reject who deserves or forgiveness. Ouch.
Our request for God’s forgiveness doesn’t include a partiality clause (only forgive certain of our sins). It doesn’t indicate a limit (despite our asking for a limit to our acts of forgiveness many a time). And, in response to feedback received yesterday, I’ve surmised that God wishes us to forgive EACH WRONG 70 X 7 (or is that 77) times and not the person.
Further, I’ve noted that Christ’s forgiveness comes before repentance; although we don’t feel it’s effect until AFTER we chose to confess our sins and receive it. Could that mean that our acts of forgiveness should not be dependent on confession from the one/s who have wronged us? Lord, have mercy! Christ, have mercy. If that is the case, I’ve got some unforgiveness baggage to dump.
Lord, give me grace … and faith
See ya
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
