Hello dear

How are really you doing? Has stress been internalized, or acknowledged so it may be addressed? I heard a story in a sermon yesterday that sparked my reflection on how we’re coping in these times. It was about a man caught in a blizzard and realizing that the only way to get home was to keep going until he saw the lights of the town. When he did, it was to discover he was one town over! But to get there, as in the wrong town, he had actually driven over a lake! I couldn’t help but think that the blizzard allowed him to ‘walk’ on water; because he was focused on the light. Consider today’s Holy Nougat.

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

Isaiah 26:3 NLT

Interestingly, many persons who practice Eastern religious seem to have it, while most of us as Christians are seriously challenged with possessing it. Is it that they found the mojo that we haven’t? Or have they figured out something we ought to copy? You see, we sometimes focus on the wrong light. But when we zero in on God’s light, we will not only walk on water, but we’ll get to the right town.

This perfect Peace cannot be bought or sold, it cannot even be given by us to others. We cannot lend it or borrow it, because this Peace is a gift from God to us. So what do we have to do to get it?

Let’s go back in scripture memory for a bit:

Remember when David went to visit his brothers and saw/heard Goliath was in town – he chose to focus on God, not Goliath. He brought the problem to its real size – smaller than the reality of God. And he wasn’t afraid to declare it. In the midst of the times; let us keep our focus; firmly fixed on Christ.

Likewise, our brother Joshua chose to enter a land that some had declared unin-habitable. For there were Giants protecting the land. And they (the giants) were not afraid to defend their turf. But Joshua was determined. And in focusing on God, he received God’s blueprint for the way forward. My dears, as we fix our minds on Christ, and keep our focus, let us also ask God for the blueprint specially prepared for our situation.

We can also learn from Hannah; for years her situation seemed bleak. When her distress got to boiling point; she poured her heart out to God and was misunderstood for being drunk. Maybe she was drunk on God’s Spirit. As we should be.

Because we cannot get far in our faith walk if our spirits are not healthy. We must seek God’s grace to sustain us. Whether it’s Covid-19, Sahara dust, the loss of employment or financial challenges, we cannot lose our peace. We have to drink of God’s Spirit continuously to overcome the challenges of the times. And when it is compounded by death and destruction, we still have to zero in on God.

So, how are you doing today? Can we agree to give today into God’s care? Let’s do it.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
