How do you introduce yourself to a group of friends? Business colleagues? Christians? Is it the same terms you use? Why/not? And what if you were to describe/name your divine calling? An appetizer for today’s Holy Nougat
“Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, to the saints that are at Ephesus, and the faithful in Christ Jesus:”
Ephesians 1:1 ASV
An apostle Through the Will of God. Not by appointment from Cesar, nor by the High Priest or Scribes. Not by bribe or even inheritance! It is very important that we grasp the significance of God’s power to move us. Not by bribe; not by our power; but solely by God’s Spirit!
Now, if God moves us into a position, not only can God move us OUT; but God is absolutely equipped to provide support and all else we need in order to successfully complete the responsibilities of our divinely appointed position. We need only ask. And for some of us, that’s a challenge. We don’t wish help from God or any other person because we are busy being independent.
Not always a great thing!
Asking God builds relationship and also gives real-time proof that God CAN and WILL supply our needs! For some of us, the request isn’t for help to fulfil our divine calling; it is to Discern our divine calling! Do you know your divine calling? That brings us full circle eh. Here are a few more thoughts
1) Paul did not begin life as an apostle. He sensed God’s call; but he totally misunderstood what God required of him.
2) Not everybody immediately recognized or affirmed the call on his life. In fact, based on his past, they were (justifiably) hesitant to believe that he had actually seen called. But God!
3) Someone has been prepared to help Paul walk into this new season of divine appointing. It was an affirmation of the call on his life to apostleship.
Likewise, where we’re at now might not be where God intends us to be. However, God can and will lead us to where we need to be. Additionally, our call is divinely appointed, not everyone will be able to immediately ‘see’ us in the position God secured for us. That doesn’t deny the validity of the call on our life, we may have to move forward in faith. God WILL confirm the call on our life, it’s just a matter of time.
